 California Assembly Bill 487 was approved by the Governor of California in October 2001.  It requires physicians and surgeons to complete 12 hours of mandatory continuing education in the subjects of pain management and the treatment of terminally ill and dying patients.  These articles qualify under this requirement. A total of 12 CME credit hours must be completed by December 31, 2006.
