Shari Coleman RN.,MSN, CNS,  President, Coleman Education Opportunities 

Shari Coleman, RN, received her Master's in Nursing with a minor in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles.  Much of Shari's research, publications, and national presentations have focused on education strategies to enhance learning and retention.  She served on the American Heart Association (AHA) National Board as a member of the BLS Subcommittee qne as a founding member of the AHA National Education Committee.

Shari serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA School of Nursing..  Shari's clinical and education endeavors have served to promote and enhance knowledge of prevention of cardiac, stroke, and other life threatening concerns and to promote and enhance life saving skills and knowledge for community as well as for professional rescuers.   

                                                                                                                            Morris Jagodowicz, M.D., Medical Director, Coleman Education Opportunities.

Dr. Jagodowicz has been an ACLS and BCLS Instructor for the American Heart Association since 1978.  He is also certified as a  Heartsaver AED and PALS Instructor.   Dr. Jagodowicz serves as Instructor and Course Director for the AHA ACLS-Experienced Provider Programs.  He was  president of his own training center, MVR Health Systems, Inc. for 15 years. He has extensive training in both adult and pediatric basic and advanced cardiac life support. 

Presently Dr. Jagodowicz is a practicing Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Specialist in the San Fernando Valley.  Dr. Jagodowicz is a member of the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and has served as the Base-Station Physician in a number of California hospitals.  He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the California Society of Anesthesiologists.      

 

Emma Cuenca, RN, CCRN, MSN is an ACLS, BLS and AED Instructor. 

She is currently Clinical Nurse Specialist of Cardiac Surgery Unit and has also served as Assistant Manager at the Cardiac Cath Lab at Kaiser Permanente.

Emma has been elected to serve as President of the Philippine Nurses Association of Southern California (2008-2009).  She presented the topic, “Evidence Based Practice in Hemodynamic-Monitoring” at the June 2008 Manila Convention.

 

 

 Sandee Kane, R.N., MPH,

Work Experience includes:  CSU-BSN & UCLA School of Public Health. 

After retiring from UCLA Medical Center,

·        Sandee is a member of the Westlake Village Disaster Response Team.

·        Teaches AHA ACLS-EP, ACLS, PALS, BLS, Heartsaver AED and 1st Aid Instructor

·        Sandee is on the AHA Education Subcommittee to serve the education of Healthcare Providers and of the Community.

 

 

Mark Katz, M.D., is a board-certified internist as well as emergency physician, and has been practicing full-time emergency medicine since 1978.  He states he has been through "at least 4 changes in the algorithms". 

Dr. Katz serves as Assistant Chief, Hospitalist Division, within the Department of Internal Medicine within a large Los Angeles based Medical Center. 

Dr. Katz continues to serve as Regional HIV/AIDS Physician Coordinator for all of Kaiser Permanente Southern California.  

 

 

 

Jennie Kim, RN, MSN, CCRN has served as  clinical nurse educator in the                 within the Emergency Department of Panorama City Kaiser Permanente. 

Jennie is an AHA ACLS and BLS Instructor and serves an AHA Training Center Faculty within Coleman Education Opportunities Training Center.  She has also served as a QI committee member of the AHA, Greater Los Angeles Affiliate.  

Jennie Kim has served as Clinical Systems Project Manager for Kaiser Permanente for many years and has now accepted the role as “Business Consulting Specialist” within the Kaiser Permanente Clinical Health Systems.   

                                                                                                                                                                                   

Dr. Stanley Malamed is Professor of Anesthesia and Medicine at University of Southern California, School of Dentistry.  He is also the author of "Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office, 5th Edition, 2000". 

Dr. Malamed, DDS, serves as an AHA Faculty Trainer and Instructor for BLS, ACLS, and PALS with Coleman Education Opportunities.

 

 

Cathy McFarlane, BLS-C, RN, CEN,  trained at Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, Ireland. 

Cathy serves as an AHA Instructor for CPR, AED, ACLS as an AHA Instructor.

Cathy has served as a Clinical Educator at Torrance Memorial Hospital

She is also a certified emergency nurse and educator for Kaiser Harbor City and Centinela  Hospitals.    

Cathy has recently included “Educator for IM Subspecialties @ Kaiser South-Bay”

 

 

Fe Mangila-White, RN,  NP, CNS is an ACLS and BLS Instructor with Coleman Education Opportunities. AHA Training Center.

Fe serves as Nurse Practitioner in Cardiology with Dr. David Cannnom and his renowned Cardiology Center within Southern California. 

Fe is also an aerobic fitness instructor,  

She holds the position of Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA School of Nursing.

 

 

  

Gail Oliphant, RN, BSN

Gail has been involved with healthcare education for seventeen years as a BLS, AED, First-Aid, ACLS and PALS instructor. 

Her nineteen years in nursing include experience in Critical Care and PACU. 

Currently, she has accepted the position as Staff Development Nurse at Newhall Memorial Hospital where she works in the OPSC-PACU and teaches Mock-Code, Dysrhythmia Recognition, Advanced Airway Management, Pain Management, and Pediatric Bedside Basics.

 

 

Victoria Szatalowicz, M.D. is an ACLS Instructor with Coleman Education Opportunities, AHA Training Center

Dr. Szatalowicz trained in Internal Medicine at Duke University and Nephrology at the University of Colorado

 Presently she is an Emergency Room Physician at Centinela Hospital and at the Airport Medical Clinic in Los Angeles.  

 

 

 Dennis-Duke R. Yamashita, D.D.S. is a BLS, Heartsaver, ACLS, and PALS

 Instructor since 1977. 

Dr. Yamashita is Director and Chairman of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at USC School of Dentistry and LAC/USC Medical Center in Los Angeles.

He is the past president of the Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

 Dr. Yamashita has also been on the Committee of Continuing Education for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
