To educate in democratic and inclusive values, are all pedagogical practices useful? Does a school organization based on presumed homogeneity exclude, discriminate, and diminish opportunities for students? Structuring groups interlevelly, mixing ages, is not a new practice. Reflecting on it, using a methodology inspired by Celestín Freinet and enriched by a long history in rural settings, brings us closer to the most innovative current trends. Learning with others, and from others, becomes an opportunity for the development of countless intellectual and social skills, respecting different learning rhythms. Open spaces, work corners, multipurpose classrooms, flexible time, selected projects, diverse groupings for different learning styles, free texts, environmental research, live calculations, and class assemblies—all practices we propose in this publication, aiming to rethink another form of schooling, one that is more egalitarian, natural, free, and committed.
